Victor Horton Bradley, 98, of The Woodlands passed away on Monday, February 3, 2025 after a full and spectacular life. A private inurnment will be held at Houston National Cemetery.
Victor was born on September 4, 1926, in Beaumont, Texas to Inez and Victor Bradley. Growing up he learned to work hard and was known for his great work ethic his entire life. Besides Beaumont, he resided in Lumberton, and the Fairview Community, prior to moving to The Woodlands.
After serving in the Navy during WWII, Victor married “the girl with curly hair”, Martha Broussard, on July 16, 1949. He loved her for 72 years and missed her immensely when she passed in 2021.
He began his career as an employee for Gulf States Utilities in Beaumont. Eventually, he advanced and retired as the supervisor of the power plant.
During retirement, he enjoyed traveling all over the United States with his dear wife. They loved retreating to the mountains during the hot Texas summers, making friends along the way. While at home, Victor loved to garden. Every summer his kitchen counter would be filled with tomatoes and other produce. He loved to share his gardening advice with others. Visits from his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren were another highlight of his life. He delighted in their accomplishments and loved sharing family stories to any who would listen.
He is preceded in death by his parents, son-in-law, Jim Barrow and his beloved wife, Martha. He is survived by daughters Katherine Barrow and Rebecca Bradley; sons Mark Bradley & wife Kathleen and Patrick Bradley & wife Kathleen; eight grandchildren Jill Balmer, Tammy Gibson, Laura Beth Van Leeuwen, Kevin Bradley, Sarah Bradley, Haleigh Freeman, Michala Bradley, and Douglas Bradley; as well as five great grandchildren Kaylee Gibson, Kara Gibson, Caroline Van Leeuwen, Tucker Van Leeuwen, and Rylie Bradley. Victor was one of a kind and he will be missed by those that loved him. We were honored to have had him in our life and look forward to when we see him again.
Victor’s family would like to thank the staff at Avanti Senior Living in The Woodlands, Texas for listening to his detailed stories and the care they provided. We are thankful for his only surviving co-worker and friend, Doug Skinner, who came to check in with him. Also, thanks to Father Ron from Saint Michael’s Church in Jasper, Texas for his many visits and long letters. Condolences can be posted at www.shultzfuneralhomeofjasper.com.
